California IHSS Provider Pay

IHSS Wages by County

Look up the current hourly pay rate for any of California's 58 counties, as of June 1, 2026.

The State of California administers the IHSS program, but they do not determine the provider's hourly pay rate. Each of California's 58 counties sets its own provider wage through local bargaining, and every county must pay at least the state minimum wage which is currently $16.90 per hour. Counties with higher costs of living tend to provide wages above the state's minimum wage, which is why a provider in San Francisco earns more per hour than one in a rural county.

The figures below come directly from the California Department of Social Services, which publishes the official county wage rates. Rates change when a new bargaining agreement takes effect or the state minimum wage rises.
